Rumours Abound
Submitted by Peter McCaffrey on 28 August 2008 - 9:28pm.Well, the Herald Digi-poll has ACT at 2.3% (up 2%), a pleasing result as the Digi-poll is usually the worst for ACT. ACT even beat out NZ First, who drop to 2.1%.
Today, I heard five rumours - it's been one of those days!
The first was that there is a Roy Morgan poll out tomorrow. ACT normally does well in the Morgan polls, compared to others, so I expect ACT will do well tomorrow too.
The second rumour was that Rodney has had his smart car re-painted for the election, and Bridget Saunders has gone and spilt the beans with a photo on her 'About Town' Stuff Blog.

The third rumour I heard was that the SFO would be announcing that it would be investigating Winston Peters - and that has certainly turned out true, with an annoucement this afternoon.
The fourth and fifth rumours are that Helen plans to announce the election date tomorrow and that it will be October 18th - a date I have been picking for a while.
Given my source's accuracy regarding the SFO, I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow, Winston is gone by lunchtime and Helen uses it as an excuse to call the election. With the ETS out of the way (passed earlier today), Labour can afford to call the election now, and get as much legislation through under urgency as they can next week.
You heard it here first.
