I hope some readers of this blog have been led here by flyers ACT on Campus have been handing out in Christchurch and looked upon Earth Hour with a critical eye.
There's a film that tells the other side of the story you can view online for free: The Great Global Warming Swindle
This is the defining moral and political cause of our times and we need to get it right.
ACT are unique in seeking a critical and informed response to climate change.
ACT on Campus Canterbury go even further, we say man-made global warming and the carbon emissions taxation initiatives are a swindle! Hopefully we've managed to explain our reaction in person, and why we ask all politicians to ditch this voodoo politics.

Submitted by Peter McCaffrey on 21 March 2009 - 4:00pmOne day, a Labour supporter, a National supporter and an ACT supporter go for a round of golf.
At the start of the fourth hole, they catch up to three elderly gentleman who are playing extremely slowly and seem to loose their golf ball after nearly every shot.
By the end of the ninth hole, the group has become quite frustrated with the delays and their complaints are overheard by one of the three elderly gentlemen who approaches them at the tenth tee. The man explains that his two older friends are in fact blind and apologies for their slow play as he must help them find their ball after every shot.
The Labour supporter immediately approaches the other two elderly gentlemen and, unheard to the others, spoke with the men for around five minutes before returning to the other two and explaining that he had apologiesed profusely and explained that he hadn't realised that they were blind. Next the National supporter approached the men and spoke to them for a while, they shook hands and he returned to the other two and he explained that the men had agreed to allow them to go ahead so they wouldn't hold them up any longer. Finally the ACT supporter approached the men and spoke with them for barely five seconds. The two elderly gentleman burst out laughing and clapped the ACT supporter on the back. He too returned to his friends and told them what he had told the blind gentlemen: "Really, you should be playing at night. You'll probably get a discount from the club too!"

S92a Delayed
Submitted by Peter McCaffrey on 24 February 2009 - 1:30pmAfter half a day without their favourite blogs (including AoC), National caved in and agreed to delay the introduction of S92a until the end of March.
A great result for all of us, from across the political spectrum, who campaigned against it - not just in the last few weeks, but all the way back through last year when Labour were trying to pass the bill initially.
Here's a great video by Laurence Lessig about copyright. Freedom lovers will enjoy the last few minutes particularly where he rails against the age of prohibition that we have developed - not just in IT - where we live our lives against the law.
