Jonathan (Jono) Macfarlane is one of the growing number of young people who have come to see that our lives are controlled far too much by the government. At 24 years of age, he has decided to stand for ACT as he believes our policies provide the best future for New Zealand. Specifically, he was impressed by ACT being the only party willing to tackle youth unemployment by bringing back youth rates, the removal of which led to thousands of unemployed teens.
In the last few years, he has been involved in youth work, pastoral ministry and site security. Presently Jonathan works at Manukau Insititute of Technology in Otara. He holds a Bachelors degree in theology from Carey Baptist college and is preparing to begin his Masters.
Outside of this, he has won national titles in five sports, including that of NZ's Strongest Man.
Jonathan lives in East Auckland and is looking forward to campaigning to boost ACT’s party vote.
