As a law student looking forward to graduating in a few years with a law degree from Otago, I struggle to see New Zealand as a country with a prosperous future. We don't have a sense of personal responsibility, nor incentives in place to make the kinds of choices that will help us succeed in an increasingly competitive world.

As a whole, New Zealand has a staggering sense of entitlement. When things go awry, we barely even consider how we ourselves can better our lot, or how our families, friends, and communities could help. Instead we go straight to the government looking for a handout - when they should be our final port of call. This isn't a healthy attitude to have as a country, and it doesn't encourage us to take responsibility for our lives.

I want a country with a thriving economy that provides the kind of jobs and opportunities that will keep our best young minds here - rather than offshore. I want a country where hard work actually reaps rewards, and healthy attitudes and ethics are encouraged.

ACT is the party supporting real change for the better, and with your party vote, the New Zealand I want to see can be a reality.
