Peter McCaffrey, a 24 year old student, is the ACT Candidate for Otaki and is campaigning only for the Party Vote at this election.
Peter grew up in Waikanae and studies at Victoria University, where he has completed a BA in International Relations and Political Science and is finishing a BSc in Operations Research and Statistics.
Peter is the current national President of ACT on Campus, the youth wing of the ACT Party. In this role, Peter has become well-known as a highly effective political activist, promoting ACT's message of freedom, choice and personal responsibility throughout the country via a series of television appearances, radio interviews, newspaper columns and political campaigns - including this year's successful campaign to pass ACT's Voluntary Student Membership bill through parliament.
Peter also serves on the ACT Party Board and decided to stand as a candidate at this election to ensure that ACT has a strong presence in the next parliament in order to push the National government to undertake the vital economic reforms we need to get the New Zealand economy moving again.
"Only ACT can provide the votes that National will need in the next parliament in order to get government spending, government debt, and government regulation under control, to allow our economy to thrive and to provide a better life for all New Zealanders. ACT is the right partner for the government at this election. Party Vote ACT!"
